LETTER FROM NRMS PARTNERS IN EDUCATION
Dear Parents & Guardians;
The NRMS PIE officers would like to welcome everyone to NRMS for the 2011/2012 school year. We look forward to the new school year and redefining our organization and our place in the school community. We encourage all parents and guardians to become more active at NRMS whether through NRMS Partners in Education, or any other capacity.
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Hoffman, our Principal Dr. Maxine Minkoff, and Assistant Principal Marcia Cameron, have been very gracious in their cooperation with and support of NRMS Partners in Education (PIE). The recent budget cuts have been difficult on all Nauset schools but the administration has done well in maintaining school programs and education as a priority. We, as parents, need to do our part to fill in the gaps as we can. We are very excited to create our new goals for our group and the school. We hope through collaboration, to make NRMS an even better place for our children to learn and grow.
v We are working hard to improve communications between NRMS PIE and parents. We have developed the NRMS PIE website, school directory and will be using email notification of upcoming events, and taking advantage of the school reach message system.
v We want to foster a greater sense of community between parents, students and staff. We work with the school to find more ways to involve parents in the school especially in volunteer positions. Please refer to our volunteer forms and let us know what you could be willing to do for NRMS.
v We look to involve the Nauset communities to be part of the NRMS family. We plan events that the public is invited to so they can see what a talented group of students we have at NRMS. For example, we hope to sponsor coffee houses that will show case the artistic talents of our students and teachers, as well as continue with a spaghetti dinner to benefit the music department. Hopefully, we can encourage the community to help support the endeavors of our students and faculty.
v We would like to raise funds to assist extracurricular activities such as sports, music, arts and clubs that have faced budget cuts. We do not want our main focus to be fundraising, but unfortunately it is a necessary part of helping to keep the great programs we have at our school intact. We never want families to feel pressured to contribute more than they can afford and to know that we value your time just as much as financial assistance.
Do you have any ideas that you would like to share with us? We are always looking for more ways to improve our group and the school in general. Please feel free to contact us at any time with your ideas, suggestions or questions. We look forward to seeing everyone during the school year!
Best Regards,
